The Athens Meigs Educational Service Center provides the related services of occupational and physical therapy to nine school districts and two county boards of developmental disability schools in Athens, Meigs, and Perry counties. These licensed professionals work as part of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) teams to identify and serve students with motor deficits in a school-based setting.
Direct, consultative and/or support for school personnel services may be provided as determined by the IEP team. As part of the IEP team, occupational and physical therapists, as well as occupational and physical therapy assistants, work to facilitate the student’s ability to participate in and benefit from their special education program in order to optimize their function in the school environment.
