Eastern Elementary Preschool

The preschool at Eastern Elementary is dedicated to helping children build a strong foundation in pre-academic and social skills through play-centered learning. The emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development children gain from attending preschool greatly prepares them to succeed in kindergarten and beyond.

Eastern Preschool offers a full-day, five-day-a-week program. Each classroom is staffed with a teacher and paraprofessional who help each student reach their full potential. Our curriculum, Creative Curriculum Teaching Strategies Gold, supports teachers in this endeavor. Students learn to follow a consistent daily schedule. This learned routine helps children feel safe and secure in their learning environment and instills in them the knowledge and ability to handle transitions that are sometimes hard. The classroom routine includes time for math, science, dramatic play, blocks, and library during center time. There is also structured time, sometimes referred to as circle time, for daily group learning. Special education services are provided to children who have extra needs and qualify for an IEP.

Students are served breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack in their classrooms. Meals are provided by the cafeteria, but children are also permitted to pack their meals.

Students are given daily playground time, weather permitting, to work on their gross motor skills.

Preschool tuition is based on income and our sliding fee scale. Tuition is paid monthly and goes towards meals and classroom materials.
