Heart of the Valley Head Start

WHAT ARE WE?

Head Start is a federally funded program, and it is the most successful, longest-running, national school readiness program in the United States. The program is free of charge for families who meet a variety of qualifications. The program is child-centered. family-focused, and community-based. Head Start provides comprehensive education, health, nutrition, dental, mental health, social services, and parent engagement opportunities to low income, special needs, and at-risk children and their families.

WHO ARE WE?

The Athens-Meigs ESC Head Start is recognized as a community leader in providing Head Start and Early Head Start services to children and their families residing in Gallia and Meigs Counties. AMESC has been the grantee for this Head Start program since 2002, providing birth-5 services to 276 children and their families. Heart of the Valley Head Start has been recognized as an exemplar program in collaborations by the Office of Head Start. The Ohio Department of Education has also recognized HoVHS as an exemplary family engagement program.
