Special Education

The Athens-Meigs Educational Service Center (AMESC) partners with local school districts to provide special education services to students with disabilities.  Currently,  the AMESC employs intervention specialists, school psychologists, speech language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and paraprofessionals to serve in our nine participating school districts.

The AMESC also provides Parent Mentor support for districts and families in Meigs County. The role of the parent mentor is to guide families through the special education process, and to help them understand the rights and responsibilities of the student, parent and school district.

The department leaders also provide high quality professional development within the region covering many special education topics.  For more information please call 740.797.0064
